# Tabbed Browser
`gBrowser` displays and manages the contents of a window's tabs. Older code and documentation often call it `<xul:tabbrowser>`, after the DOM element that used to fill this role. That element no longer exists, but the name is still used synonymously with `gBrowser`, so you will meet it.
